The world can be a pretty strange and surreal place as it is, but for those times when it’s not quite weird enough, we can always rely on photographers and image manipulators like Ted Chin to show us things we couldn’t possibly imagine. After finding Ted’s work on Instagram, where he has over 21,000 followers, DIYP got in touch with him to chat about his inspirations and his work. Ted started learning about art when he was a child....

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m a sucker for stop-motion animation. I also love fall and all its colors, and running through rustling fallen leaves. Photographer Brett Foxwell brought together stop-motion and fallen leaves and turned them into a hypnotizing video titled The Book of Leaves. He used as many as 12,000 pressed leaves for this video, so it took many walks through fallen leaves and plenty of effort to put it all together....

As technology advances, we get to see some interesting camera-related inventions. Engineers at the University of Michigan have recently presented a prototype of a wireless camera that can power itself indefinitely by light. It’s also less than a millimeter wide, so it can be hidden anywhere. As explained on TechCrunch and IEEE Spectrum, photovoltaic cells can store the energy that falls on them and record how much energy fell on them....

Tyrifjorden is one of Norway’s largest lakes. Along its shores I have found a spot which I have visited frequently the past years. It has become my favorite location for sunrises especially during winter when the sun rises right in front of me. The images included cover a stretch of roughly twenty meter of rather photogenic rocks. Due to various water levels, snow, perspective and other factors almost every image has a unique quality in spite of being shot at the same place....

Well, it looks like it’s Leica vs Hasselblad vs Zeiss now in the smartphone camera market. VIVO has just unleashed their new X60 series smartphones on the world, including the X60, X60 Pro and X60 Pro+. The X60 and X60Pro launched in China in December of last year, but now they’re going global. The X60 Pro+ is only launching in India and China (at least for now), so we’re not going to talk about that one here (although it has an extra camera)....
