When Blackmagic released Davinci Resolve 16, it came with a downloadable 444-page Beginner’s Guide. It was a fantastic PDF to thumb through to help you get up and running quickly and acted as a handy reference when you got stuck. Well, for those of you who’ve been struggling with Blackmagic’s latest incarnation of Resolve, fear not! Blackmagic has just released the DaVinci Resolve 17 Reference Manual and it’s grown to a whopping 3,588 pages long!...

Inspiration for new technology is everywhere, even in the fossils of prehistoric creatures it seems. Scientists have developed a nanophotonic light field camera with extreme depth of field capabilities, based on the eye of the extinct trilobite, Dalmanitina socialis. Ask any palaeontology (or just about any 5 year old) and they will tell you that the trilobite was one of the first animals to develop complex eyes. Very complex it turns out....

Every time a new camera is coming out, everybody wants to know what it looks like. They usually look pretty much like their predecessors, though. Canon have their own look and ergonomics, and all the other manufacturers have theirs. So, unsurprisingly, the Canon 6D Mark II looks pretty much like the Canon 6D. Plenty of news comes from Canon today. They have announced two new DSLR cameras: EOS 77D and T7i (which will be known as EOS 800D outside the US). These will most likely make advanced beginners happy, as they will allow them expand their knowledge and skills. Canon has also announced a new 18-55mm lens to go along. You can order them separately or with some of the cameras, there are several options available....
