There’s been a whole lot of new lens announcements lately. This latest pair are coming from Ricoh, with a 50mm f/1.4 full frame prime and an 11-18mm f/2.8 APS-C zoom for Pentax K-Mount. They form the beginning of a new generation of “Star series” lenses aimed specifically super-high resolution photography. Ricoh say that the final specs, and even the names of these lenses are subject to change before official announcement next year....

An Ontario photographer has captured the perfect impression of a spooky human face in a giant wave on Lake Erie. It’s so impressive, that at first glance it almost doesn’t look real. But there is no Photoshop trickery here. The image is 100% captured in-camera. Cody Evans is a keen nature and wildlife photographer who regularly enjoys capturing the stormy waters of the lake. The waves create incredible sculptures, no two are ever alike....

Did you know your laundry is toxic? Tests show that billions of people drink water with plastic fibers, and we can blame our washing machines for it. Photographer Benjamin Von Wong decided to point out to this issue in his usual way – by creating an epic photo project. He aims at raising awareness and hopefully getting electronics companies come up with washing machines which will prevent the pollution. We’ve seen different kinds of copyright infringement lawsuits, and here’s a very unusual one. Photographer Jeff Sedlik has filed a lawsuit against famous tattoo artist Kat von D who used his photo of Miles Davis for a tattoo. The photographer seeks $150,000 in statutory damages plus any profits earned made by depicting the tattoo and removing any “derivative works” she could have made from it. Kat von D (Katherine Von Drachenberg) became famous after she was a star of the TLC reality TV series LA Ink, running between 2007 and 2011....

The appearance of social networks has undoubtedly redefined the notion of friendship. Maine-based photographer Tanja Alexia Hollander decided to get something more from her Facebook friends than just the photos they share online. She set out to photograph all of them in their homes, no matter where they are. There are 626 people on Tanja’s friends list, and since 2011, she’s been traveling all over the globe to get to know them....
