Astronomers have used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to take a direct image of a planet outside our solar system for the first time. The planet is a gas giant, which means that it has no rocky surface. Like Jupiter and Saturn in our own solar system, it means that the exoplanet is most likely uninhabitable. The image shows the planet in four different bands of the infrared spectrum. The exoplanet has been catchily named HIP 65426b after its host star the HIP 65426....

Venus Optics has just announced the new Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 full-frame lens for Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts. Laowa says that it’s the fastest full-frame 35mm lens in the world and the first offer an f0.95 aperture. It provides a 63.4° field of view with “extraordinary shallow depth of field and creamy bokeh”. For the video shooters, they say it provides a long throw on the focus wheel and the aperture can run either clicked or declicked with the flick of a switch....

It looks like the Mavic 2 won’t be the only new version of the DJI Mavic being announced by DJI. Droning On reports that a new “Mavic Enterprise” model may be on the way, too, after posting some leaked photos. This drone seems to have various attachments that can be added to add various functionality to the drone. Exactly what the functionality of these mystery add-ons might be is unknown at this time....

Recently I took my first ever photography trip to California. My plan was to hit up Mt Shasta, Lassen Volcanic NP, and Lake Tahoe.
