I’ve become a big fan of Feelworld’s monitors over the past few months. While they don’t always offer the bells and whistles of some higher-end field monitors, they’re excellent value for money, especially if all you need a monitor for is to check composition and focus. But Feelworld has stepped up their game now with the new LUT7 monitor, offering a touchscreen UI, waveform, vectorscope, and LUT support. We stopped by their stand at IBC 2019 to find out more about it....

In Iran, women are banned from attending soccer games. But a 26-year-old photographer Parisa Pourtaherian didn’t let it stop her. During a match in Vatani stadium in Ghaemshahr, she climbed a nearby rooftop and photographed the game with a telephoto lens. And by doing this, she became the first woman Iran to cover a national league game. With recent rumours of Nikon’s withdrawal from the DSLR market – to which Nikon quickly responded by denying nothing – it was almost inevitable, really, that more would come out of this. Now, former Nikon General Manager and designer of the Nikon Df DSLR, Tetsuro Goto has also responded to the situation essentially saying that SLRs have already reached their peak performance and there’s nothing left to do. His opinion is neither confirming nor denying any claims on behalf of Nikon but he believes that the SLR system as a whole is dead – Don’t tell Pentax....

As well as today’s previous announcement from Atomos regarding Frame.io Camera to Cloud (C2C) support in their two new products, the Atomos Connect and Shogun Connect, Frame.io is also announcing more integration features from Teradek products, integration with Viviana Cloud sound recorders and FDX FilmDataBox as well as support for mobile shooters using FiLMiC Pro. For Frame.io’s Enterprise users, they’ve also announced a new AppleTV app to create a simplified “executive viewing platform”, Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to prevent unauthorised viewing and piracy of footage....

Bloomberg are reporting that the American Federal Trade Commission are cracking down on social media advertising. Users now must be very clear about paid product endorsements. Users are actually required to do this already, but few do. Many advertisers also request that the social media users not mention it. It’s understandable why advertisers wouldn’t want the public to know. They want people to believe that somebody actually likes their product. That they love it enough to tell everybody how awesome it is....
