The GoPro Hero 9 Black was just officially announced only 9 days ago. But as usually happens, one gets into the hands of a lucky individuals few rather quickly (sometimes before it’s even been announced). One such individual is YouTuber the daniel life. He hasn’t posted a review of the camera yet, but he has posted is a mammoth long tutorial going over the Hero 9 Black’s feature set. He’s actually done two videos – one in English (above) and one in German (below) – and each is over an hour and a half long going over just about every topic you can imagine....

There is a lot of German camera gear that we use or at least mention from time to time. And if you’re an English speaker, chances are you pronounce all of it in a “wrong” way (just like we do with the Japanese word “bokeh”). Max of Analog Insights even got criticized for not pronouncing gear like Leica, Meyer Optik Görlitz, or Carl Zeiss “correctly.” So, he made this video for all of you who may have been in a similar situation....

No matter what gear you use, sharpening is just a fact of life. Even if you’re using a super sharp Sigma Foveon sensor, or a Phase One Achromatic back, all digital images can benefit from a little sharpening assistance. Photoshop and other applications offer a million different ways to sharpen your images. Some are more effective than others. And a few are quite versatile, while others are a little more rigid....

On March 4th, 1857, while the Capitol building was still under construction, James Buchanan was sworn in as the 15th President of the United States of America. The 1850s were a significant period in photography. The wet collodion process was invented in 1851. It gave photographers the ability to make direct contact prints from glass negatives. You needed to take a whole darkroom around with you to do it, though. Long exposures were still often necessary, as one would typically work with ISO rating of 6 or less....

It’s hard to imagine that a particular film stock, especially something like infrared film, might have an origin story that’s almost as wild as a superhero. But the way Todd Dominey tells it, that’s pretty much how it sounds for Kodak Aerochrome. In this video, he goes over Aerochrome’s origins and its life until its demise in 2009. Developed by Kodak specifically for the US military during World War II, Aerochrome has had a colourful history (pun intended)....
