A social media influencer has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after trying to violently steal a web domain name from a stranger. No, this isn’t a Black Mirror episode or an Onion article. The influencer known as “Polo” developed a scheme that involved a Taser, a gun, and his violent cousin who went to the stranger’s door. The cousin broke into the man’s home, and even some blood was spilled as he tried to force the man to give up the domain name....

Instagram recently began testing a “Mute” button, and now it’s been rolled out. From now on, you can mute anyone you don’t really wanna follow without having to go through the whole “why did you unfollow me?” conversation. While this can certainly be a useful feature, it is potentially a double-edged sword if you use Instagram to promote your work. Muting an account is easy and there are a few ways to do it....

Every day I see questions in Raspberry Pi groups on Facebook asking if it can do this or that and can it really replace a desktop? One of the more common tasks I often see requested of it is video editing. Can the Raspberry Pi 400 let you edit videos? Well, it turns out that yes, it can. At least, in 1080p. Kondor Blue has announced its newest product. It’s an unassuming little clip with big quality-of-life improvements for filmmakers, live streamers and others who potentially have to deal with a lot of cables. It was developed in collaboration with YouTuber Armando Ferreira (Mondobytes), and it’s called Mondo-Ties. It’s essentially a 1/4-20″ mounted cable tie. It screws into the 1/4-20″ sockets on your cage or other hardware and holds your cables so they’re not flapping all over the place....

So far, it seems 2017 has been the year of comebacks. Leica is another brand bringing the vintage gear back, and they’re resurrecting their 1935 soft-focus lens, Thambar 90mm f/2.2. The classic lens returns with the old design and the soft-focus look of its predecessor. However, there are still some changes and improvements coming with the modern version. First of all, the new lens is named Thambar-M 1:2.2/90. The “M” comes from the mount type because the new version will have the Leica M instead of the L screw mount....
