At the end of 2016, Bellus3D announced taking a selfie game to a new level. They planned to do it with a 3D face scanning camera for mobile devices, which should enable users quick, high-quality and cheap 3D face scanning. At CES 2017, they demonstrated it. It’s the camera that makes extremely accurate 3D face models on a budget and in a matter of seconds. And as soon as this year, they are planning to make it available for the masses....

DaVinci Resolve just keeps getting better and better with each new announcement. A long time staple for cinematic colour correction & grading, Resolve recently started adding editing capabilities. Those still have a little way to go, but they’re coming along nicely. Today, though, they’ve announced that DaVinci Resolve is now available for Linux. As well as the earlier URSA Mini Pro announcement, Blackmagic Design have also released two new control panels for DaVinci Resolve....

Another selfie death happened recently, taking another young life. While trying to take a photo of himself, a 33-year-old man from Brazil reportedly lost balance and fell off a 40ft tall cliff. Emergency services rushed to help him, but they could only confirm his death. The tragic accident took place on 10 November on a rock overlooking Joatinga Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Igor de Oliveira Rodrigues Dias went to the beach with a friend to celebrate the contract he signed with a company he wanted to work for, according to his mother....

A few years ago I built an ultra-large format camera that is 24 inches by 24 inches. While it was a pretty huge camera, it was a simple build it was just two square standards, one for the front and one from the back which was connected by a big bellow. There was no support base or focusing rails and I just support the two standards by using two tripods so it was not the most stable camera....
