So, I was thrilled to learn that the travel photography blog Capture the Atlas ran another competition for the best Milky Way photo of the year. The results have just been published, and it seems that the top images get better and better every year. Dan Zafra of Capture the Atlas shared some of the winning photos with us, so let us feast our eyes together on these fantastic images....

One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard from just about every considering buying into the recent wave of full-frame mirrorless cameras from Canon, Nikon and Panasonic is how huge (and expensive) the lenses are. It’s a big barrier to entry that’s preventing many relatively-low-budget shooters from even considering switching from their DSLRs. Canon, at least, has said they were planning to do something about it, and now it looks as if we’re getting close....

Yes, the Japanese company, Fujifilm Holdings, which makes everything from cameras to makeup is acquiring Xerox in a $6.1 billion deal. The merger is reported to have a combined revenue of $18 billion. The two companies have been partners under the brand Fuji Xerox for over 50 years, but now Fuji will become the majority stakeholder in the American company, made famous by its photocopiers. Under the new deal, the existing Fuji Xerox will become a subsidiary of Xerox, while the combined company will become Fuji Xerox under the ownership of Fujifilm Holdings....

If you take your craft seriously, the odds of having heard these words are quite high. Audiences associate good images with great cameras, and for the longest time, this (almost) accusation has bothered photographers who felt their skills were downplayed. The interesting bit is that we’re walking towards making the “great cameras = great photos” equation true! And they fit in your pocket. Before I started for real with photography and cinematography – more than ten years ago – I used to play with a Sony compact camera....

There are as many techniques to develop black & white film than there are photographers. Today I’m going to show how I develop most of my B&W films. That doesn’t mean that’s the right way to do it and that you should follow my instructions word for word. This is just what works for me until now. When a film has been exposed to light, the image exists but is invisible and it has to be revealed....
