Plenty of selfie-related accidents and deaths happen each year, and the majority of them occur in India. In an attempt to increase safety at popular tourist spots, the country is about to introduce “no-selfie zones,” where visitors, as you can guess, won’t be allowed to take selfies. According to research, between October 2011 and November 2017, there have been 259 selfie-related deaths in 137 incidents. The researchers have spotted an exponential increase in these accidents and they blame it on several factors....

Instagram recently introduced a bunch of new features under “Your Activity.” One of them tracks your time on the app and enables you to set a reminder when you reach your daily time limit. However, Instagram has quietly changed the minimum time limit you can set. Surprise, surprise – it looks like the app isn’t really eager for you to take a break after all. Or at least not so soon....

Kenko Tokina Japan has announced three new manual focus lenses for APS-C mirrorless cameras. The three lenses are all super telephoto, being extremely long in terms of focal length all quite short in physical length. This design is due to the fact that they’re reflex lenses. Essentially, they contain mirrors to house a longer focal length inside a shorter barrel. But even for reflex lenses, they look pretty odd. The three lenses have focal lengths of 300mm, 600mm and 900mm, and they’re coming to Indiegogo....

The film so famous that Paul Simon wrote a song about it may be coming back. Kodak’s Kodachrome was the choice of both hobbyist and professional photographers for years. It was first released in 1935, and production ran all the way until 2009. Despite digital already having taken a firm grasp on the world of photography, it upset many photographers who still shot both film and digital. During a discussion at CES on The Kodakery podcast, they briefly mentioned the re-launch of Ektachrome, and the possibility of Kodachrome actually going back into production....

Laowa has today announced their new 11mm f/4.5 FF RL lens. It’s a tiny lens for its short focal length and wide field of view at only 58mm long and weighing a mere 254g. It’s a rectilinear lens, not a fisheye, and it’s designed to offer complete coverage on full-frame mirrorless cameras. With a 126° field of view, the lens actually has a front 62mm filter thread. Laowa boasts it as the widest rectilinear lens ever made for full-frame that does actually have a filter thread....
