As expected, Sony has today announced their new high-resolution mirrorless camera, the Sony A7R V. If you were hoping for another big resolution jump, though, don’t get too excited. Unlike the A7R IV, which bumped up the A7R III’s 42-megapixel sensor up to a 61-megapixel sensor, the new A7R V keeps the 61-megapixel resolution of its predecessor. It does come with a lot of new features and hardware, though. For a start, it has an entirely new autofocus system with AI deep learning capabilities....

Sony has now officially announced its tiny trio of compact full-frame E mount primes. The set is comprised of FE 24mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2.5 and 50mm f/2.5 G lenses, although they’re probably not quite as inexpensive as you might have been expecting. The lenses are priced at $599 each for all three 24mm, 40mm and 50mm focal lengths – which, given their relatively slow apertures, doesn’t sound all that great, but their compact size is definitely very attractive....

There have been lots of devices and methods worked on for taking unwelcome drones out of the sky. There was that stupid eagle programme, shooting them out of the sky, trapping them in nets, signal jamming and signal hijacking. And there have probably been other ways that haven’t been made public. So far, though, I haven’t seen anybody suggest using one drone as a battering ram to literally knock the other drone off balance, causing it to crash (quite literally) to the ground....

You can tell Photokina’s coming. The announcement rumours are coming through thick and fast right now. Since the Nikon Z6/Z7 announcement, we’ve seen full frame mirrorlesss announcement rumours for Canon and Panasonic. And we’ve already seen one from Fuji for the impending X-T3. But it looks like Fuji has another trick up their sleeve. The Fujifilm GFX 50R, a new “affordable” medium format mirrorless camera. Fuji Addict reports that it’s expected to be announced on September 23rd, and the first photo of the new camera has been leaked on Weibo....
