The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and Nature’s Best Photography (NBP) have announced the winners of the 2022 Benjamin Mkapa African Wildlife Photography Awards. This contest “Brings Africa to the World, and the World to Africa,” and it introduces us to diverse African wildlife through a series of stunning images. This year’s competition attracted 9,500 entries from 57 countries including entrants from 16 African countries. The overall winner is Michelle Kranz, and her amazing portrait of an endangered mountain gorilla brought her a US$ 5,000 grand prize and a large specially-commissioned stone elephant sculpture....

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been playing with the new YI 360 VR camera. I’ve wanted to get my hands on one of these since they were announced in April. So, needless to say, I was quite excited when it showed up at my door. Since it arrived, I’ve used it quite a bit. Facebook’s Moments app came onto the scene with a lot of promise. Announced in June 2015 for Android and iOS, Moments allows users to take advantage of Facebook’s face recognition algorithms to detect your friends in the photos on your camera roll, and then share those images with those recognised friends. Unfortunately for Facebook, though, it seems that users just didn’t care, and very few have been actively using the service....
