New Canon Sx740 Hs Point Shoot Offers 4K Video And 40X Optical Zoom

Well, we knew it wouldn’t be long before 4K started to trickle down to lower end cameras. It’s been around in phones for years already. And even though plenty of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras still only shoot 1080p, point & shoots need to play catch up to compete. And here comes Canon with the SX740 HS. It features a 40x f/3.3-6.9 optical zoom lens, equivalent to 24-960mm field of view on a full frame sensor....

Osee G7 Camera Monitor Takes On The Top 3000 Nit Monitors

When I saw the first reviews of the Osee 4k UltraHD monitors, I was impressed. I really wanted to get a unit and see if the price tag (more than Lilliputs and Feelworlds, less than Atomos) made sense. It had a lot to offer, at least on paper: 3000 NITS, both HDMI and SDI pass-through loops, and an IPS panel. We got a G7 kit and used it for a month....

Patent Suggests Olympus Wants To Become Astrophotography King With New Astrotracer Feature

Well, this is interesting. It seems that Olympus (AKA OM Digital) might be looking towards the stars. A new Japanese patent describes a new Micro Four Thirds system with a built-in “astrotracer” feature. Essentially they want the sensor to track the motion of the stars so that you can get longer exposures at night without getting blur from the planet’s rotation. It’s a nifty sounding feature and it’s one we’ve actually seen before, although it’s perhaps not surprising that most people have never heard of it, as it was found in the Pentax K1 Mark II, amongst others....

Photographer Called Out Over Creepy Sexual Arousal Clause In Model Release Form

Well, this is one of the more disgusting photography-related bits of news I’ve heard lately. A Melbourne, Australia based photographer has been called out online after a photo was shared online of his “Consent and Release Form” which includes a “sexual arousal” clause and an agreement for “comfortable” models to “participate in sexual activity”. It is claimed that this is the contact he presents to models, which they must sign in order for a shoot to happen....
