It’s time we put some updated sensibilities’ behind the statements “fix it in post” and “getting it right in the camera”. A few people mentioned these phrases to me recently and honestly, I was surprised to hear how they interpreted the meaning behind them. I was even more surprised and disappointed when I posted the topic on social media today and quite a few people weighed in with very strong opinions and RULES for how things should be done....

Whether the work we create is digital, or a little more tangible, it’s an inevitable consequence that some of it will be lost or destroyed. In this short series of videos released by Adobe, we see four of them recreated using Photoshop and stock imagery. Rembrandt’s The Storm on the Sea of Galilee went missing in 1990 after thieves disguised as police officers broke into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and stole an eximated $500 million worth of paintings....

While looking at my own images on Shutterstock, I noticed the Shutterstock algorithm was suggesting my photos as “similar” images. I thought it was a bug on the Shutterstock website until I noticed that others had downloaded my photos from other sites then uploaded them to Shutterstock. Shutterstock’s similar photos algorithm then noticed this and suggested the stolen photos along with my photos. After a little research, I found that this has been happening for at least 8 years and it doesn’t look like Shutterstock has done more than deleting the offending photos when found, but more just get uploaded....

There are a lot of oddball lenses out there these days. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. Look at Laowa’s crazy lookin’ 24mm f/14 2x macro probe lens, for example.
