Many of you know I’m a fan of big memory cards. Sometimes you just need a lot of tiny portable storage. Some of you might have seen my thoughts on the SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB microSD card (review here), and it’s still going strong as both a portable backup card and for shooting footage in my Insta360 cameras. So, when Silicon Power reached out to me to try their 1TB Silicon Power Superior microSD card, suggesting that it was just as quick but less expensive than the SanDisk, I had to see for myself....

SmugMug has acquired the popular photography podcast, This Week in Photo – otherwise known as TWiP. It’s the second acquisition by the company after picking up Flickr in 2018. As well as acquiring the podcast itself, TWiP Editor in Chief Frederick Van Johnson is also joining SmugMug. He will lead content and new media while maintaining his role with TWiP to help it continue to grow and evolve. SmugMug+Flickr VP of Marketing, Scott Kinzie says that “It’s an ideal match”, with both companies and TWiP having the goal of increasing the influence and impact of photography worldwide....

The popular wearable Lumiee LED lights have received an upgrade. Spiffy Gear has today announced its successor, the KYU-6. Like the original Lumiee, it comes in 95+ CRI bi-colour and clean wavelength RGB flavours, but KYU-6 comes with finer brightness settings, better weather resistance, and you can now charge it while using it. Offering a CRI of 95+, the bi-colour version of KYU-6 lets you get great skin tones and perfect colour no matter what it’s lighting....

Sometimes if I’ve been doing a lot of shoots of the same type of thing in quick succession, I can find myself in the unfortunate position of falling back on the exact same ideas, compositions and even poses. This becomes particularly apparent if I’m working with the same subject. Obviously, we want our photographs to all zing with individuality and something I always try to do is to create something unique for not just my clients, but for myself as well....

The launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy has caused plenty of reactions all over the world. The epic launch has made many of us stand in awe and the photos gave us goosebumps. But, just like all major events, this one has also made many people inspired for creating memes and parodies. My Facebook feed has been flooded with hilarious photo manipulations today, and they’re mainly Slavic (which in my opinion makes them even funnier)....
