Sony has announced its newest compact digital shotgun microphone. It’s the Sony ECM-B10 and unlike most on-camera microphones, it offers three different pickup patterns. And also unlike most other on-camera microphones, this one communicates directly with your Sony camera through the multi-interface shoe on top of the camera without any wires. It’s even able to provide it with power. The ECM-B10 contains four microphone capsules that use “beamforming” technology to offer omnidirectional, cardioid and hypercardioid pickup patterns in a single microphone....

You’ve seen some crazy wedding photos on DIYP before. This time, allow Abbi and Callen Hearne to blow your mind with the wedding photos they took. The couple photographed an adventurous wedding of Kim and Ryan in a desert near Moab, Utah. They shared the photos with us and they were taken on a space net 400 feet above a canyon! It’s one of the most colorful weddings I’ve ever seen, and even though the photos make me dizzy just from looking at them – I’m impressed by both the idea and the execution....

Swiss art historian Heinrich Wölfflin was a key figure in formal methodology. He devised a system that compared opposing artistic concepts so that they could be applied to paintings and used to analyse them. In particular, Wölfflin was interested in trying to characterise Renaissance and Baroque art. One pair of comparators used by Wölflinn was closed form against open form. While I’m doubtful you’re set on recreating Renaissance or Baroque pictures, knowing what the terms mean, and how they can be applied to your photos and make your audience feel about them, is useful....

A freelance videographer by the name of Dave Cooper is suing Adobe for the deletion of around 100,000 digital video clips totalling around 500 hours. After upgrading to Premiere Pro 2017 v11.1.0 in April of last year, he claims that a bug caused the deletion of video clips that cost him around $250,000 to create. He says that the bug exists in the “clean cache” feature which deletes temporary files and backups created during the editing process....

In the current coronavirus situation, it’s important that we stay at home. It’s not easy, I know. But photographer Ray Briggs has created a photo that sends a message we all need to hear right now and reminds us why it is so important to stay at home. They say that a photo is worth a thousand words, and this one sure is! To say that the medical workers have their hands full during the current pandemic is probably an understatement....
