Earlier this year, a photographer filed a lawsuit against Meta. As in some previous cases, it was because of Meta’s embed tool which allows anyone to add photos to third-party websites without asking for permission. However, the photographer lost the case – or more precisely, he lost this round. The judge gave him permission to amend his complaint, which means that he could win the war despite losing this battle....
There’s an interesting discussion that’s popped up on Facebook recently, started by award winning photographer Rutger Geerling, over what we may be able to do to help better protect our equipment out in the wild. We’re not talking about the bags we leave laying around filled with gear we’re not currently using, but items actually on our person that are all too easy to steal. Without intervention and design alterations from the manufacturers themselves, it seems there’s very little we can do, but there are some great suggestions offered in the comments on the Facebook post, though....
The humble dashcam. Usually used for capturing boring traffic offences and dangerous drivers than fireballs flying through the atmosphere, but that is exactly what plumber Curtis Powell captured on his work rounds. It is suspected that the flash of light seen in the video was a meteoroid or re-entering satellite. Thousands of people took to social media to report the streaking flash of light along with a loud rumbling noise in the Southern part of New Zealand’s North Island....
Posts like these have become fairly common the last couple of years. A lost GoPro here, a missing DSLR there. And we all want to do what we can to help (hence this post). But this has to be the most hilarious attempt to reunite a camera with its owner that I’ve seen. Why? Because all of the faces are obscured. It seems that they were blurred by the Police themselves, but it’s going to make identifying them kind of tricky....
What is the internet best used for? You could argue that it’s sharing cat photos. Along this theme, Samsung chose a feline subject to demonstrate their 200-megapixel smartphone sensor. And they didn’t just demonstrate how good it is, they decided to blow up the captured image and display it on the side of a building, in gigantic furry detail. Although the sensor hasn’t yet made it into the consumer phone market Samsung has evidently already decided to hype up the new sensor and wasn’t deterred by printing the image to a staggering 2,021 square feet....
