Last year, Colin Wirth at This Does Not Compute inherited some old camera gear from his grandparents. Along with the usual assortment of cameras, lenses and other items, was a brand new roll of Kodak Plus-X Pan film. A Black & White Panchromatic ISO125 film containing 20 exposures. The only issue was, it expired in March 1983. Given how long film lasts after being made, that means this roll is over 35 years old....
Sigma’s lineup of native Sony E-Mount Art is now almost complete. Having shipped the 20mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm E-Mount lenses in June, Sigma has now started sending out the 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM, 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro and 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art series E-Mount lenses. Having played with E-Mount versions of the 20mm and 50mm lenses only a week ago, they seem to show definite improvement on Sony bodies over MC-11 adapted EF or SA mount lenses....
The Sirui 50mm f/1.8 1.33x anamorphic lens was the talk of IFA in September and it wasn’t long before Sirui released the specs. Initially, it was rumoured to cost around €500 ($555) and be released at the end of this year. Then that price was bumped to €700 ($770) with availability in January. Now, Sirui has taken to Indiegogo to launch the lens with prices of $599 for early birds and $699 regular price....

The company is focusing more and more on machine learning solutions, and the upcoming improvements all about making your workflow more automatized and thus faster and more efficient. Sky replacement is a technique many landscape photographers use to make the images more eye-catching. Sure, you can do it manually. Depending on the image, you can sometimes even do it quite quickly....
Sony’s much anticipated A6300 was finally released in March this year. An eagerly awaited update to 2014’s A6000. Now, a mere 8 months later, Sony have announced the new Alpha A6500 at a Sony event in NYC. It contains a 24MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor and like its predecessor shoots 4K video. Let’s hope it doesn’t overheat like the A6300, too. The big news with the A6500 is the new built in 5-axis in-camera stabilisation....
