If you ever want to experiment with optics, making your own lenses (or adapting old ones to fit on current cameras) is definitely a good way to do it. Lenses now have gotten pretty complex, though, with elements acting in pairs or groups that are often too complicated to try to reassemble in your own custom housing (especially if it’s held together with gaffer tape). Not just for cars but with almost anything and everything. We have already seen Apple’s new iPad and iPhone utilizing this technology. I wanted to see if I could use a LIDAR, in its most fundamental function, on a film carrier that is printed on a 3D printer....
There are places where it’s difficult to take a photo without people or cars in the frame. Sometimes, you can tell people to move so you can take a photo. But in some overcrowded locations it’s simply impossible. And not to mention that you can’t do it if it’s cars messing with your composition. Thanks to some Photoshop magic, it’s possible to remove all the unwanted moving objects from a photo in a few seconds....
Along with today’s release of the Sony A9 firmware v5.0, Sony as also released a pair of mobile apps. Sony Imaging Edge Mobile now replaces the somewhat terrible PlayMemories app, and there’s a new Transfer & Tagging add-on for it which enables continuous FTP transfers in the background (for the Sony A9) which they claim doesn’t affect continuous camera use. The background transfer currently only seems to apply to the Sony A9, thanks to the new v5....
