I have played with photography a little bit since I was a boy, first with an old Olympus 35mm film point-and-shoot, then with a GameBoy camera and later a pretty terrible mobile phone. At age 18 I got my first DSLR and instantly fell in love with out-of-focus backgrounds, and now almost 10 years later I still have a passion for bokeh. Most new lenses aim to have bokeh that is very smooth....
Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize is a prestigious portrait photography contest. While it allows “‘portrait’ to be interpreted in its widest sense,” the rules state that the photo must involve humans. But this year, for the first time, one of the main prizes went to a portrait of a human-like robot. Finnish photographer Maija Tammi won the third place and £2,000 for a portrait of a Japanese android named Erica. And while the judges admit it breaks the rules, they decided to “expand” the rules and accept the photo....
Blackmagic Design has just announced the new Atem Mini Pro, a streaming-focused update to the popular live streaming switcher announced at IBC last year. To go along with it, the Blackmagic Camera 6.9 update for the Pocket 4K and Pocket 6K adds direct support for the Atem Mini Pro, letting you remotely control and match up to four of the cameras from the new live production switcher. The advertisement features a new Whopper menu which is frankly nothing short of stomach-churning, with some very interesting food combinations. “Surely this can’t be real?” people wondered. It turns out, that the menu and the images are every bit real. But not quite in the way that everyone thought, however....
On Friday, 10 November, the passengers at Orlando International Airport were in a panic after hearing what appeared to be a loud gunshot. As it turned out – it was actually a camera lithium ion battery that overheated and exploded in a passenger’s bag. After an investigation, the Orlando Police Department announced there was no danger for the passengers and the airport staff. Still, the explosion caused panic and fear, as well as dozens of delayed flights....
