Lately, I’ve been inspired to take things “back to basics”. Often I take photography too seriously and forget the importance of always staying a beginner, and sticking to fundamentals. Consider this an opportunity for me to share some practical tips I’ve leaned over the last 10 years in terms of what I think makes a great street photograph (either watch the video above, or read more for the text). Of course this is not an all-inclusive list; there’s lots of other things which make a great street photograph....

The first company to officially withdraw from next month’s NAB in Las Vegas is AJA Video Systems. In an announcement, AJA specifically cites the “risks from the Coronavirus” as the cause of their withdrawal from the show. At the same time, both Microsoft and Google have announced that they’ve cancelled two of their conferences. Microsoft’s MVP Summit in Seattle and Google’s Cloud Next in San Francisco have also now been cancelled, coming days after the cancellation of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco....

There has been a diptych going around Facebook lately which has made me laugh every time I’ve seen it. Perhaps you’ve seen it too: there’s a woman’s cleavage in one photo and the BTS image in the other, showing that the “cleavage” is actually a man’s butt crack. The photo has gone viral and quickly turned into a meme, but there’s a story behind it that’s even more epic than the idea itself....

Apple has just been granted a patent perfect for the current global situation. The company has patented software that would allow you to take group selfies even if you’re not in the group. In other words: you’ll be able to take a selfie with your friends remotely, while keeping the social distance. It’s worth noting that the patent wasn’t filed with the coronavirus in mind (unless folks at Apple can predict future)....

Why even hike if you won’t take a selfie from the most dangerous cliff for your followers to admire? I’m being sarcastic, of course, but it appears that more and more Australians are taking this approach seriously. According to a recent study, Australia has reached the highest number of selfie-related deaths in the past decade Specifically, deaths caused by falling off cliffs while taking selfies. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) says that in there were 3,747 people who died from accidental falls in 2021....
