Nikon has released new firmware updates for both the Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 mirrorless cameras. Both firmwares are marked as version 2.10, and are fundamentally identical in features and fixes. They add support for the two new Z mount lenses, change the way a couple of things work and fix a few bugs. What they don’t do is add CFexpress support or RAW output over HDMI, the latter of which is something that Z6 Filmmaker’s Kit owners have already been waiting for for quite a long time....

Is it the subject that makes our new images interesting or how we photograph them? Getting a decent photograph of an interesting subject is easy, but what about a boring subject? UK photographer Brendan Barry can turn pretty much any object into a camera obscura: from a camper to an entire skyscraper floor. This time, he teamed up with young folks from Beyond the Box to turn an empty building in London into a multi-lens camera obscura. Unlike previous times, Brendan used a new process he developed during the project. Thanks to some DIY magic, film chemicals, and smartphone torches, Brendan and his team created a unique large format image of the city....

On Thursday, March 4, police detained professional photographer Eddie Mitchell for taking photos of Hove town hall in Sussex. The officers approached him and searched him under section 43 of the Terrorism Act, which gives officers the power to stop and search anyone they “reasonably suspects to be a terrorist.” As the police confirm, they approached Mitchell while he was taking the photos. They searched him because he refused to provide identification and information....

Ricoh has announced its new WG-70 compact camera. All outward appearances suggest that the WG-70 is largely identical to its predecessor, the WG-60 (which was also just a minor update to the WG-50). So, not much seems to have changed. Ricoh says, though, that the WG-70 does come with a few new features including a “digital microscope mode”, and a more advanced underwater shooting mode for better colour, contrast and white balance....
