Regardless of how you feel about photography, it comes with opinions. Lots of them. From absolute beginners to seasoned pros with 50 years’ experience behind them, we’re constantly bombarded with opinions in photography. “You need to follow this rule!”, “You need to sell that camera and buy this one!”, “You need to…” this, that and the other. A lot of these opinions are unpopular. Some deserve to be but many simply lack the context required to truly express their real meaning....

I’m always looking for good stock images to use in my photoshop composites. I find them online, or use the awesome Texture Store. Or I make my own. But sometimes its impossible to find the right image that fits your idea. And if you do find the right image, it’s at the wrong angle or too small, or not lighted the way you want to. So you’ll just end up with a crappy composite, or spending hours of time to get it right....

Chanel has launched a new collection of jewelry. It seems, however, that the photos that follow it have caused more reactions than the jewelry itself. The photos feature brand ambassador and famous actress Keira Knightley. They were taken by fashion photographer Sarah Moon, and the reason for strong reactions is that all the photos are blurry. Vogue has posted the link to the photos on their Facebook page. In addition to the comments on Keira Knightley’s looks, some of the comments point out to the facts that the images are blurry....

Chirodectes maculatus is a jellyfish species that’s seen super-rarely. And I really mean super-rarely: it has only been documented twice so far. So, when this incredible creature was captured on camera, it was quite exciting. A diver managed to film it off the coast of Papua New Guinea, and the video is as spectacular as the jellyfish itself. This jellyfish is a part of the box jellyfish family. While most of them are venomous, even deadly to humans, this particular one isn’t harmful....

Normally I create photographs. This time, however, the final product is a video where you can follow the change of crystals/salts from the collodion wet plate process. I have started this project because at my workshops I am often asked what happens when developing, fixing or sensitizing the plates. Of course, I have often tried to explain it, but a picture is worth a thousand words. That’s why this video was made....
