My dad was into photography. He was a professor at Illinois in Speech and Hearing Science and did a lot of research on cadavers. He did a lot of photography as part of his research, and also enjoyed photography outside work. He had a darkroom in his lab and I had access to that while I was in town. I always kept a camera or two on hand but was not dedicated enough to build a darkroom in the house....
Last year we told you about I’m Back, yet another solution to shoot digital images with your old film cameras. They were funding the project through Kickstarter and fell somewhat short of their goal, pulling in €35K of their €85K target. Now, though, they’ve rethought the project and I’m Back is back with lower expectations. Once again, funding is through Kickstarter with a €20,000 goal, it’s already gone way past that, hitting over €30K....

UK based filter company LEE Filters is producing their filters for the first time in a circular form, no longer needing to use a filter holder. Aimed at both stills and video shooters, the Elements range comprises neutral density filters called Big and Little Stoppers, a circular polarizer, and a variable neutral density filter. The filters are available in four standard sizes of 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm. LEE Elements comprises five filter types: Little Stopper (offering 6 stops of light reduction), Big Stopper (10 stops of light reduction), CPL (circular polariser) and two densities of VND (variable ND, providing 2-5 or 6-9 stops of light reduction)....
Leica has just announced a pair of APO-Summicron lenses for its full frame mirrorless cameras. Those would be the Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f2 ASPH and Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f2 ASPH. While designed for full frame, they will also work on Leica’s crop sensor cameras, too. These lenses aren’t cheap, though. One’s a little under five grand, the other’s slightly over. The specs are essentially identical between the two lenses besides the focal length, minimum focus distance and a slight difference in weight....
