It can be gnarly out there, especially if you’re a pro-surf photographer. This week a boat full of professional photographers, cameramen and pro surfers got more than they bargained for when they got hit by a true monster of a wave in Teahupoo, Tahiti. The video above shows the camera boat first being it by a wave which it rides with relative ease, but then a massive wave sneaks in from the opposite direction, seemingly out of nowhere, sending the boat into an almost verticle position....

Well, either the rumours were wrong or Tamron’s hand was forced by all the leaks lately, but they’ve now officially announced the new Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.34 Di III-A VC VXD APS-C mirrorless lens. Initially, it’s available for Sony E mount and it will be coming for Fujifilm X at a future date. It is possible that the rumoured September 24th announcement date wasn’t entirely inaccurate, though. Today seems to be an announcement and pre-orders opening up....

With their usual fanfare, Tamron today announced a new 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD lens for full frame cameras. Available in Nikon F and Canon EF mounts, Tamron says that the goal with this lens was to produce something that offers “easy portability” while retaining “superb image quality”. Covering 17-35mm focal lengths, it’s a pretty common range for photographers to sit, especially for any kind of landscapes or street photography. Specifically mentioning genres like landscape, the variable aperture likely won’t put too many people off buying this lens, especially with a $599 price tag....

Is that a power bank in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? That was my first thought when I was introduced to this beast delivering over 462Wh of power. That’s right, 124,800mAh at 3.7V. Now don’t get me wrong, I love power. I always have a Xiaomi 20,000mAh in my backpack and I’ll take an Omni 20 or Ultimate out for production, but this… this is far beyond any photographer’s wildest dreams....
