We just posted about a particularly well made iPhone X video yesterday, profiling French dessert maker Elise Lepinteur. While it is a very nice and polished final product, the phone had a little assistance from sliders, gimbals and 3rd party lenses. In this video, though, from Matteo Bertoli Visuals, we see the iPhone X footage completely unassisted, handheld. That’s right, no gimbals, no sliders, no bolt-on lenses. He didn’t even use Filmic Pro to film it, he used the phone’s standard app....

Building your own camera can be a whole lot of fun. Lucus Landers has been building them for a little while now. His latest creation is the Landers AL6, a 6×6 medium format camera. People have made 6×6 medium format cameras before, but this one’s not your typical DIY project that anybody can do at home. It was made using a mix of techniques including 3D printing, sand casting, welding and milling....

Photographer Mike Olbinski has become a synonym for breathtaking timelapse movies of different kinds of storms. The latest installment of his Monsoon series has just been published and it took an incredible amount of effort, money, and photos to put it together. Mike spent three months chasing storms for this movie – and he compressed the best shots in only eight minutes of pure nature’s spectacle. Mike writes that his original plan was to collect as much footage as usual, but not to compose and publish the Monsoon V until 2019....

The winter sun was low to the horizon as I steadied myself upon a rather uncomfortable wooden perch. My back to the sun and downwind, target in clear sight, I drew in a deep breath then slowly exhaled as I prepared to take the shot. At the bottom of my breath I waited for that brief moment between heart beats as I took up the slack in my finger. Thump thump… Thump thump… squeeze....
