No matter what the platform, the Internet is plagued with a common problem. Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or a regular old fashioned forum on the web, trolls are everywhere. They have nothing better to do than try to mess up the day of other people. They’re the largest collective source of negativity on the Internet, and countless hours are wasted every day manually trying to thwart them. This Wired interview with Instagram CEO, Kevin Systrom, they think they’ve found an answer....

In an attempt to further beat trolls and bots, Instagram will soon ask some users to verify their identity. If it notices a “potential inauthentic behavior,” Instagram will ask suspicious users to submit their government ID. According to Instagram, the new policy won’t affect most regular users like you or me. It’s aimed at accounts “potentially engaged in coordinated inauthentic behavior,” those where the majority of followers are in a different country to their location or those with signs of automation (bots)....

The king of ultra wides just stepped into the ring of cine-line lenses with a very bold claim. The Venus Optics Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine Lens is the newest lens to come out of Laowa. The “Zero-D” supposedly stands for zero-distortion, but at 12mm how is that even possible!? After playing around with the lens for a while, I can officially say, I’m blown away by this lens. After a report that Google Pixel phones were getting Night Sight timelapse, now it’s official. In Pixel 4 and later phones, you can now automatically capture a night timelapse while shooting astrophotography. This feature arrives with a few more updates, so let’s dive in and see what’s new. Pixel 4 and 5 have had the Night Sight mode, dedicated particularly to astrophotography. Until now, you were able to only capture photos, but Pixel 4 and later phones can now capture a timelapse of the night, too....

For years, one of the staple zoom lenses of serious enthusiasts and professional photographers has been something in the 12-24mm (ish) range. Typically, they have a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and are usually autofocus. They’re also usually pretty expensive. Laowa has presented photographers with a new option, though, as they launch their new 12-24mm f/5.6 full-frame lens. Sure, it’s not got the fast f/2.8 constant maximum aperture and it’s not an autofocus lens, so it’s not going to be for everybody, but Laowa’s new lens comes in at under half the price of much of the faster autofocus options and will be ideally suited to a number of genres, even if not fast action events like weddings....
