The words “RED” and “patent” are pretty familiar bedfellows. They’ve used their raw video patents to strongarm every other camera manufacturer from being able to implement raw video in their camera without RED’s approval (and a hefty fee), even if those companies have developed their own raw video technologies. Now, they’ve filed – and been granted – a new patent over compressed raw video. The new US patent number 11,503,294, joints three other RED patents relating to compressed raw video (8,872,933, 9,479,749 and 9,787,878), but this new one seems to encompass devices other than just cinema cameras....
The Ricoh GR series cameras have become extremely popular amongst street photographers over the last few years and have picked up a very loyal following. Those who have them love them and swear by them. The Ricoh GR III feels like it’s built specifically for street photography and when you look at some of the images they can make, it’s easy to see why. Well, they’re official Samsung’s announced its array of new smartphones which includes the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra – the latter of which sporting a 48-megapixel 100x zoom camera and a 108-megapixel main camera. Famous for their popular APS-C anamorphic lenses, Sirui has stepped out with a new full-frame 50mm T2.9 1.6x anamorphic lens providing a 2.8:1 aspect ratio. As per usual for Sirui lenses, the new 50mm T1.9 is being launched via Indiegogo. You’d think by now they’d be in a position now to just develop a lens, announce it and put it up for sale, but I guess not. Going up to full-frame marks a nice upgrade for Sirui and with their prices, it puts them in a fantastic position for capturing the entry-level full-frame market....
