Litepanels has announced their new Gemini 1×1 Hard RGBWW LED panel. Litepanels says it’s “the brightest and most accurate 1×1 light ever”, which is a pretty bold claim, but boasting a bright 3,000 lux at 3 metres (10ft) with a 46° beam angle there might be something to it. It has 0.1-100% flicker-free dimming at any frame rate or shutter angle, wired or wireless DMX and Bluetooth remote control and can be powered by either 100-240VAC or a DC input from 13-33 volts.
Despite the “Hard” moniker in the name, these lights are designed to be blasted through silks to give you a nice soft light on a large area. They also come with a dome diffuser to help spread the light around to a wider area. They’re some pretty beefy lights, as LED panels go, offering 20% more output than a 200W HMI. And even though they pack a lot of punch, they’re relatively lightweight, coming in at only 6kg for quick rigging and easy transportation. Not only do they offer a wide 2,500K to 10,000K of bicolour white, these are RGBWW panels, so they also offer the full gamut of RGB control with over 16 million colours available, including 300 predefined gels and 11 customisable special effects, making it just as versatile as it is powerful. If you want to see the full photometrics, you can check those out here for daylight and here for tungsten. It doesn’t appear to be available for pre-order just yet and there’s no word on a price (See update at the bottom of the post), but the Gemini 1×1 RGBWW Soft Panels go for around $1,700 (although they were $2,100), so I would expect that the new Gemini 1×1 Hard might be somewhere in the upper end of that range. There also doesn’t appear to be an actual shipping date yet, either, but it will become available in four different AC power options including US plug, UK plug, EU plug and bare ends for wiring straight into your own power distribution system. It will also be available in standard or pole-operated yoke versions, too. We’ll update this post when we find out more about price and availability, but for now, if you want to find out more, head on over to the Litepanels website. Update: The standard model Litepanels Gemini 1×1 Hard Panel is available to pre-order now for $2,137 with US, UK or EU plug or with bare cable ends. It’s also available as a dual array kit for $4,275 or a quad array kit for $8,550.
