Moment has been known for making smartphone lenses, and they turned out to be pretty neat. Now the company has launched Moment Air, which includes a whole bunch of accessories for Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom drones. They include a set of filters, a carrying case, and more. But the most interesting piece is probably the world’s first anamorphic lens for consumer drones.

Moment has introduced the new products in a Kickstarter campaign and the $100,000 goal was reached in only four hours. At the moment of writing this, the campaign has raised over $200,000 with 59 days still to go. That’s pretty awesome, I’d say. Although the Moment Air line is made for DJI Mavic 2 drones, the company could soon make these filters for other drone models, too. Here are the gizmos Moment is bringing to the market:

Drone Anamorphic Lens (for Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom)

The Moment Anamorphic Lens uses cinema quality glass, designed to minimize lateral chromatic aberration. The lens features a set of coatings which produce a horizontal flare associated with vintage anamorphics.  Moment kept in mind that drone gimbals can only handle so much weight, so the lens is super-lightweight.

When it comes to attaching the lens, there is no standard way to do it. So, Moment made one and named it Lock and Balance Mounting System. It’s a two-part design with a lens on one side and a counterweight on the other. The two parts clamp together over the drone’s camera, creating a secure lock that doesn’t impede the gimbal.

The Moment Air also includes a set of ND and CPL filters for Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom. Moment promises that they won’t only make your drone look fancier, but your footage too. The ND filters gives you that slight, cinematic blur, and the CPL helps you change the light angle bouncing off bright surfaces. These filters are very lightweight so that peak gimbal functionality is preserved. Just like on the Drone Anamorphic Lens, Moment used the same cinematic glass and custom coatings. Oh, and in case you crash the drone, worry not: the filters are scratch resistant and shatterproof.

Other accessories

In addition to the anamorphic lens and CPL and ND filters, Moment has launched a few other accessories for your drone and smartphone. First, there’s the Ultra Thin Photo Case for iPhone X/XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. It’s thin and lightweight, and it’s made to allow you to use your phone with a drone controller without removing it from the case. It works with works with the DJI flight controller and gimbals like the Freefly Movi and DJI Osmo 2. In addition, if you use Moment smartphone lenses, the case is lens-ready.

There are also two new carrying cases, for the drone and for the battery. They are compact and lightweight, padded form the inside, but durable and waterproof from the outside so your precious gear stays safe and sound. Finally, there’s the drone landing pad. It’s rugged and firm, so that dust, snow, dirt, or debris can’t damage your drone during takeoff and landing. Still, it’s pretty thin and it’s foldable. Here are the Kickstarter prices, and keep in mind that retail prices will be higher:
