Sometimes you find what you are not looking for I always tell people to plan the photoshoots ahead, and urge them to try to see the complete image in your head already before taking the first shots… However, sometimes it takes a full U-turn and completely uncharted routes to end up with an amazing image. Now, I am doing a full breakdown on this image on my workshops, but I wanted to take a second and explain how this photo came to be, and why it failed to serve its purpose....

Prestigious competition the Hamdan International Photography Award (HIPA) recently announced its 2019 winners. Among them was Malaysian photographer Edwin Ong Wee Kee, whose photo of a Vietnamese mother carrying two children won the Grand Prize of $120,000. However, a behind-the-scenes shot of this moving image has been going around. Ever since I opened an Instagram account, I wished to be able to upload photos from my browser. If you’ve had the same wish – well, it may soon be granted! Instagram seems to be testing the ability to create posts from a browser. Mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi recently discovered the possibly upcoming feature. He also posted a few screenshots showing what it will look like. Alessandro notes, however, that the feature still only being tested internally....

After a 14-year-old girl took her own life several years ago, both her parents and the public wondered how big of a role social media might have had in her suicide. According to coroner Andrew Walker: a big one! Last week, Walker assessed the responsibility of social media in the suicide of yet another teenager. The girl reportedly watched and saved an enormous amount of content related to suicide and self-harm....

Just three days after California Governor rejected several drone-related bills, the Los Angeles Times reports that Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation intended to protect the rich and famous from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Bill AB 856 expands privacy protections by changing the definition of a “physical invasion of privacy” to include a drone invading the airspace above private property in order to record video, sound or capture photographs. Violators of the new law will face fines ranging from $5,000 to $50,000....
