Ever since I posted my review of the Godox XPro-P trigger for Pentax, I’ve been hanging out in some Pentax communities on Facebook. They’re an interesting bunch of photographers, and very loyal to their brand. They’ve been speculating on what Ricoh might be getting ready to announce. They’ve been hoping for a Pentax K3 Mark III (although, they’ve been hoping for that one for a couple of years now). But no, Ricoh has today announced a couple of new compact cameras....

Samyang have today announced two new lenses to start their Premium range. An 85mm f/1.2 and 14mm f/2.4. These new lenses, Samyang say, offer “unprecedented resolving power”, built for 50MP stills and up to 8K video productions. Also known as Rokinon, Samyang has become quite a formidable competitor lately. Both of the new lenses are full frame manual focus lenses. This may disappoint some folks who were hoping for autofocus. Though, personally, I don’t see it as a problem....

Australian satirist, comedian, writer, and artist Bryan Dawe found himself in the middle of a scam that sounds too terrible to be true. In spring last year, he stumbled upon a Facebook post from a “photographer” who was collecting money for her “broken camera.” Dawe wanted to land a hand, organizing a fundraiser for the woman who posed as the photographer who had her camera destroyed. The whole thing turned out to be a scam....

Teased in September, Sony’s successor to the FS5 Mark II, the Sony FX6 has now officially been announced. As expected, the Super 35mm sensor of the FS5 Mark II has been upgraded to a new 4K 10.2-megapixel full-frame BSI CMOS Exmore R sensor. It offers “Ultra-high sensitivity” with an ISO expandable up to 409,600 for low light and offers 15+ stops of dynamic range. The camera weighs in at a mere 890g and looks a lot like the FX9 in style and layout, only significantly smaller and around half the weight....
