Well, I had a feeling this one might be coming. With anticipated price drop on the GFX 50S and rumours of slightly more budget-friendly GFX 50R, a new 100MP body was almost certainly on the cards. Now, according to Fuji Rumors, the Fuji GFX 100S will be announced on September 25th during the press briefing at Photokina 2018. Or at least, they’ll be announcing the development of it. It’s been expected that a 100MP medium format camera would be coming from Fuji ever since Sony announced their sensor roadmap in April 2017....

GoPro just announced their new line of cameras (along with the Karma drone) and frankly I am not that excited. The new line from GoPro is called Hero5 (no big surprises there) and it features only two cameras: a more advanced GoPro Hero5 Black and a smaller GoPro Hero5 session. That, I think, is a good sign that GoPro are getting some of their focus back and not spreading too thin on their camera range....

Many of us have our little rituals and must-haves we must buy when we get a new camera. For me, it’s usually some form a cage these days that I can bolt all my other doohickies to, but for Justin “Dunna” McDonough, it’s the humble L bracket. After recently picking up the new Sony A6600, he put together this little video to explain why. No matter what video editing application you use, one of the biggest pains is the speed at which your final video renders out. Even with a pretty powerful system, they can take a while, especially if you’re using high res footage with lots of effects. It turns out that Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve has a way to speed them up massively. I recently switched to DaVinci Resolve, and so I’ve been following a few YouTubers pretty closely....

A while back, I had another roundtable discussion at the Film Photographers Association. This time the subject was Still Life Photography. It is a genre we all take for granted and include in it a great variety of photographs. I would like to explore the origins of still life in painting, how it came to photography, and eventually expanded in coverage and scope. Mind you, I do not intend to limit anyone’s vision but to make the reader a bit more aware of the origins of still life....
