Cats are loved very much in Japan and it’s believed that they bring good luck. And when you take their photos in the funniest of moments, they bring tons of giggles, too. Japanese photographer Masayuki Oki loves cats too, and I perfectly understand him. He turned this love into photography, taking photos of stray cats in the streets of Tokyo. He captures their comedic, playful moments, ending up with a series of hilarious photos....
Sometimes photographers find real gems among the vintage cameras and lenses. Dutch photographer Martijn van Oers found an original Zeiss Ikon 520/2 in a second-hand store, dating from around 1929. The folding medium-format camera had a roll of film inside, with the word EXPOSÉ on it. It got him intrigued, and he decided to develop the film and see if he can get something out of it. He contacted a friend Johan Holleman, who has been into film photography and film developing for the most of his life....

Whenever someone asks me what inspires me as a photographer, one of the answers is always music. I love it when different forms of arts intertwine, and I know many photographers who are inspired by music just like I am. But it appears that photography inspires musicians as well. Some of them take photos, and others write songs about it. I already wrote about great musicians who are also great photographers (twice)....
Nature Talks has announced the results of the Nature Photographer of the Year 2022 competition. This year, polar bears took the victory. Okay, not literally: it was Russian photographer Dmitry Kokh who took the photos of these animals in quite an unusual setting. His remarkable image House of Bears shows a polar bear in an abandoned weather station. And yes, you saw the entire series on DIYP earlier this year! Of course, there are plenty other stunning photos among category winners, runner-ups and highly commended images....
