Back in the 1980s, fans weren’t allowed to bring their cameras to concerts, but a Depeche Mode fan had an idea. He threw a roll of film on stage during the band’s concert with his name and address attached to it and a plea to the band to take photos. It wasn’t only the idea that was cool, it was the band’s reaction, too. They picked up the film, took some photos, and later mailed them back to the fan....
For a few years now, I’ve had in my collection one very strange lens. I bought it primarily for it’s value as a collectible so, up until now, I haven’t really spent much time playing with it. Made in 1975, this manual focus Minolta MC Rokkor-X 40-80mm f/2.8 lens is one strange puppy. When it was first introduced, no other zoom lens could top its image quality and it really didn’t have much competition until more recent years....
The release of the Fuji X-Pro3 this morning came as a bit of a surprise to me; not what was unveiled, but the general reception to it. One may think that NFTs are not all the rage anymore after their massive drop reported earlier this month. But it looks like one may be wrong, at least when it comes to some artists. After selling his first NFT collection, artist Damien Hirst destroyed the original, physical copies of his artwork. He streamed the event live on Instagram as he burned a thousand of artworks in a controlled environment. And as expected, his performance sparked a lot of reactions....
When the 5.2″ Atomos Shinobi was announced only last month, it got a lot of people very excited with its 1920×1080 pixel 1000 nit 427ppi touchscreen IPS display. Now we have a nice, fairly inexpensive HDMI field monitor capable of displaying 4K footage over HDMI with all of the usual bells and whistles we’ve come to know from Atomos’s higher-end recorder monitors. The folks with higher-end cameras weren’t so pleased, though....
