British LED lighting manufacturer, Rotolight has unveiled the world’s first electronic ‘SmartSoft™ Box’. It sounds pretty fancy but it’s basically a diffuser attachment for its AEOS 2 LED lights that allows users to vary the degree of diffusion produced by controlling an electric current passing across its surface. According to the press release, the SmartSoft will allow users to electronically adjust diffusion, focus and spread without the need for gels or additional modifiers....

After some rumors, guesses, and predictions, Samsung Galaxy S10 has finally been officially announced. Just like most smartphones nowadays, it seems aimed at photographers (or “phoneographers”) and Instagram users. The new flagship phone features three rear cameras that take ultra-wide photos, it has a dedicated “Instagram photo mode,” and a few other features to help you make the best of your phone snapshots. Apparently, the Galaxy S10 doesn’t have six cameras, but “only” four on the S10 and S10e, and five on the S10+ model....

Astrophotography is the answer. The question is, “what does this lens excel at?” I’ve proven it by being able to use it to film the northern lights in real-time, paired with the Sony A7S III. I’ve also tested the L-mount version of this lens with the Sigma FP-L. I have to say that in both instances, I’m sufficiently impressed at base-level, but there’s so much more. This is the Sigma 20mm F/1....

Well, holy cow! This is what I was hoping Sigma might say, but I never expected it to happen. Sigma has just announced that they’re releasing a new full frame Foveon sensor camera in 2019 that uses the Leica L mount. And it’s not just a current Foveon scaled up to full frame, either. It’s an entirely new generation of Foveon sensor. Well, we did know they were working on one....

This one’s been a long time coming and long rumoured, but it look like Sony might finally be getting ready to announce a 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS successor. Nokishita has posted a couple of photos and diagrams of a 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II to Twitter, suggesting that we might be getting pretty close to an official announcement. The images aren’t terribly high resolution but show an array of switches for OSS on/off and mode, AF vs MF, focus range, aperture click on/off and various other features....
