Nikon Small World is one of those contests that let us see just how much beauty can be hidden even in the tiniest of objects. The contest has announced its 2021 winners, and we bring you the gallery with this year’s stunning top twenty images. The contest was founded in 1974 to recognize excellence in photography through the microscope. In 2011, its sister competition Nikon Small World in Motion was launched in response to technology advances, allowing us to shoot movies or digital time-lapse photography through the microscope....

First spotted back in early March after registration in Russia, and then in Indonesia in July, the unreleased Nikon camera, “N2014” (which Nikon Rumors believes may be the upcoming Nikon Z9 flagship) now has some interesting new news. It looks like it’ll ditch the more traditional GPS system in favour of GNSS according to the latest registration. The news comes via Nokishita and says that as well as featuring the standard WiFi and Bluetooth, the N2014 camera will also utilise the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), which should offer more accurate positioning data....

There was no hint of the rumoured Canon camera announcement today. Not even a teaser or new info. But what we did get was the Canon RF 13-35mm f/4L IS USM lens. Announced today, the new lens is designed for Canon’s full-frame RF mount mirrorless system and presents a slightly lower budget alternative to the Canon 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM. Coming in at $1,699, it’s not exactly budget-friendly, but if you’re willing to lose a stop, it’s significantly less expensive than the $2,299 the 15-35mm f/2....

There were rumours in November that Olympus would shut down its camera business within 8 months, which was flat out denied by Olympus. Now, here we are, 8 months later, after several years of speculation and rumour and more denial, Olympus has indeed sold its camera and imaging business to a company called Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). It’s like “Surprise!” but not really. Olympus posted the notification of signing a Memorandum of Understanding to the Olympus website, stating that Olympus had sold its imaging business to JIP....

ON1 Software has today announced ON1 Photo RAW 2019 with an “all-new photo editing experience”. They say it features a new streamlined more elegant workflow with new features and software tech. It finally has a non-destructive workflow for layers, focus stacking, and sees some digital asset management updates. Billed as a “replacement to Lightroom and Photoshop without the subscription”, ON1 Photo Raw says that it offers the best of both worlds....
