Blackmagic Design had one of their live presentation events yesterday. And as usually happens during such events from Blackmagic, the announcements were pretty interesting. Dubbed the “DaVinci Resolve Cloud Update”, Blackmagic CEO Grant Petty talks about a lot more than just DaVinci Resolve, including a few new hardware products. But the main event is the announcement of DaVinci Resolve 18 Public Beta and its new cloud collaboration features. Along with Blackmagic Cloud support, DaVinci Resolve 18 sees new features for the Color, Edit, Fusion and Fairlight tabs, to add some crazy new AI features, tracking for deforming surfaces, new video effects, automatic proxy generation, major Fusion performance improvements and better audio processing....

Judging from patents for a new mount and 16-28mm f/2.8 lens, a new Canon full frame mirrorless camera is in the works. But according to the latest reports, Canon will not launch just one, but two full frame mirrorless cameras in the middle of 2019. Earlier this year, Canon’s manager confirmed that the company will shift focus to mirrorless cameras. And they’re apparently working on it. First the APS-C mirrorless camera Canon EOS M50 was announced, and we even had a chance to get the first look at it at The Photography Show in Birmingham....

GoPro are officially announcing their new Karma drone on September 19th, perhaps the Hero5, too. GoPro have kept both a very closely guarded secret for months. It looks like somebody at the GoPro website got a little eager, though. For a short time, GoPro’s European websites displayed an image of a drone, a strange looking camera, and a handheld gimbal in the header. One can only assume that these are the Karma drone and Hero5 action camera....

The Nikon N90s was not only my first DSLR but the first camera I owned that wasn’t just a disposable. I loved this camera, and even use it today, but I still lusted after the convenience of digital on an SLR. At the time, the 1.3MP Kodak NC2000 was one of those cameras I dreamed of, knowing I’d never get close to that $17K+ price tag.
