A new patent from Sigma, spotted by the folks at Hi Lows Note, describes three new full-frame lenses designed for mirrorless camera systems – the Leica L and Sony E mount systems. The lenses described by the patent are a 14mm f/2, a 14mm f/2.8 and a rather intriguing 12mm f/2.8. There is currently a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art series lens available for both Leica L and Sony E mounts, however, it’s essentially their DSLR lens with an extended barrel to fix the flange distance....

A number of Nikon D780 users have posted online to various online platforms about memory card errors they’ve experienced since the camera’s release a couple of months ago. Nikon has issued a firmware update to correct “an issue that sometimes prevented use of certain SD memory cards”, although they haven’t gone really into any detail beyond that. One Nikon D780 owner, JS photo on the DPReview forums, stated that he bought a pair of brand new Lexar 2000x UHS-II SD cards to use in his new Nikon D780 for a wedding a couple of months ago....

Panasonic, today, are also announcing a new Leica 200mm f/2.8 lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Panasonic say it offers the “sharpest-ever corner to corner image quality in Lumix history”. They also say that it’s designed with high speed and low weight in mind for handheld shooting. With the launch of a new superfast 60fps camera, a new lens obviously aimed squarely at sports and wildlife shooters shouldn’t be much of a surprise....

Japanese site Nikkan is reporting that the Fuji GH5 is to come with 6K video. If true, this is very exciting and completely ridiculous. We’re only just getting used to 4K, and even most of that is being downsampled to 1080p. So, why might one need a 6K camera? Well, as more and more 4K TVs get into the homes of the general public, we’re eventually going to need to deliver 4K content....
