Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards never fails to put a smile on my face. The overall winner has just been announced, and although it certainly made me giggle, the winning photo also carries an important message. And I think many of you need to hear it today.

The overall winner of the 2019 competition has been awarded to Sarah Skinner, for her image entitled “Grab life by the …!” From the photo, I believe you can guess what the “…” stands for. : )

I don’t know about you, but in the days when I feel that I can’t be a responsible adult anymore, a message like this is just what I need. Oh, and giggles are welcomed too, and this photo has certainly caused some for me. The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is a relatively young contest, but it keeps growing every year. There were 4,000 entries from 68 different countries for the 2019 competition, and Sarah’s image taken in Botswana emerged as a clear winner. She was also awarded the Alex Walker’s Serian Creatures on the Land Award. Other than the overall winner, the contest also recognizes category winners and highly commended winners. So, here are a few more funny and heartwarming wildlife photos: Just like every year, the contest’s founders want to spread the conservation message. That’s certainly another message we all need to hear and spread around. Here are a few tips all of us can follow and become more responsible towards the environment:

Shop responsibly: try to shop locally and avoid buying un-recyclable products and one-use plastics/packaging.Restrict water use at home: have shorter showers, water your garden less and stop flushing the loo every single time. This would save billions of liters of fresh water that could support our environment as well as supply homes and food for a global plethora of wildlife.Become a “wild influencer”: this is a special person who may be not a mega activist, but really, really cares about the environment and wants to do something to help.
